Paradise Valley had 12,658 residents at the 2020 census across 15.41 square miles, and it incorporated on May 24, 1961 for a specific reason. Residents wanted to stop Phoenix and Scottsdale from annexing them and cutting the large lots into subdivisions. It worked.
