Order off the cabinet width and you'll own a tray that doesn't go in. Measure the narrowest point of the actual opening with the door open, then subtract for the slide.
There's a reason this matters more in Tempe than in a wetter city. From mid-June into September, monsoon outflow winds push a fine dust through a house well before the rain gets there, and it settles on everything that isn't behind a door.
